India is showing its all round performance in the Under 19 World Cup. India defeated Sri Lanka, Japan and New Zealand teams and entered into the quarter finals of Under 19 World Cup. India will meet Australia in the Super League quarter-final on Tuesday, 28th January.
In yesterday’s match with New Zealand, India won by 44 runs as per duckworth lewis method. In this match, India lost the toss and batted first. India scored 115/0 in 23 overs and the match was abandoned due to rain. Indian Under 19 team openers scored half centuries each, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 57 off 72 balls (not out)and Divyansh Saxena scored 52 off 62 balls( not out).
Finally, the match was reduced to 23 overs and set 192-run target for the New Zealand Under-19 team. But New Zealand scored only 147 runs in 21 overs. Indian bowlers bowled out the New Zealand for 147 runs in 21 overs. In the Indian bowlers Ravi took 4 wickets and Ankolekar took 3 wickets. New Zealand openers Maria (42: 31 balls 5×4, 1×6) and Lalaman (31: 19 balls 2×4, 2×6) played aggressively but New Zealand managed to score only 147 runs.
Now, India topped the Points table with 6 points and it will play its first match of quarter finals with Australia on Tuesday, 28th January.
