The Order, a Netflix original series, was first announced in November of 2018. After two successful seasons and favorable reviews from critics, many fans were left wondering will there be a season 3 of The Order?
Unfortunately, the series was cancelled shortly after the second season premiere. Although the reason for its cancellation is still up for debate, it was among dozens of other series that were also cancelled by Netflix that same year. Even though both seasons had received a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s possible viewership numbers had been waning, which would have lead to its cancellation.
The Order is a horror drama series created by Dennis Heaton who is also known for his award-winning work on Motive and Call Me Fitz, among other series. The first season premiered on Netflix in March of 2019 with 10-episodes. A second, 10-episode season followed in June of 2020.
The storyline follows a college student named Jack Morton who joins a secret society, called The Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose, as he naively believed it was a regular organization that could help him network. He soon realizes this secret society is actually full of magicians who practice and teach magic. As he dives deeper into the organization, he learns some dark secrets about his family’s history and soon finds himself in the middle of a battle between werewolves and witches.
The Order Season 3: Release Date and Renewal Status
Despite the popularity of the first two seasons, the creator announced on his Twitter account that the series will not been renewed for a third season as he thanked the cast and crew of the production along with the viewers.
For two seasons I was honored to work with an incredible cast and crew on The Order for @netflix. It is one of the best experiences of my career. Unfortunately, we aren't returning, but I will always cherish the memories and the props I stole. Thank you all for watching.

Furthermore, Dennis Heaton shared that he isn’t fully ready to wrap up The Order, tweeting that he hopes to see a ten year reunion film created — perhaps we’ll have that to look forward to in 2030?
Honestly, who knows — in the back of my mind I'm hoping for a ten year reunion movie.

The Order Season 3: Storyline
Dennis Heaton also shared a teaser of how the storyline could have evolved with a third season. Viewers would’ve saw Jack bring Alyssa back from the dead, but she’d most likely be possessed by Zecchia along with a whole bunch of other corpses. Also, Vermish would be chasing world domination.
PS – Jack was totally going to raise Alyssa from the dead, but she was going to come back wrong. Like, Pet Sematary wrong. Probably possessed by Zecchia. And a whole bunch of other corpses were coming back with her.
Due to the abrupt ending of season two, there are many disappointed fans who still have many questions about what happened to the characters. Many fans are making noise & speaking up to try and get the show renewed, using the hash tags #savetheorder and #renewtheorder.
Dennis Heaton shared one final tweet regarding the renewal, thanking all of the supporters of his show.
“Thank you to all the Order fans who’ve reached out since we posted the news on Friday. Your appreciation for the series means a lot. And while I can’t answer everyone’s questions, I can tell you that it was spelled “Vade Maecum”
